It's hard for me to understand why this movie bombed. I was captivated by it. It's a modern day western with action, suspense and a scary villain. The climactic scenes on the train at the end are very exciting. I remember the original TV show that I watched every Saturday morning. When you hear the William Tell Overture as the Lone Ranger and Silver gallop through the train at the end, it's hard not to get goosebumps. Johnny Depp's dry humor as Tonto is hysterical. And it even has Helena Bonham Carter! I only gave it 4 stars because it's not Oscar material, but it's a barrel of fun.

This film reminded me of "The School of Rock" with Rainn Wilson as the old rocker trying to make a comeback. It is wacky and full of fun and the original songs are quite good. It's got some big laughs and the cast is great.
