A great companion book if you love titles like Throne of Glass or Six of Crows. Plenty of action, magic and romance with a good dash of humour. After reading a quite a few average books in this genre that were highly reccomened, I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. The story is engaging straight away and easy to read. I would have liked a little more building for some of the characters and some of the scenes/situations feel a bit rushed, but overall a great read for this genre. The author describes magic users in a really refreshing way. I also appreciate how the female MC is strong and independant but not in a way that feels like it's being shoved down your throat. She's relatable enough. Can't wait for the next book.
