Well MacFarlane usually sticks to comedic satirical humour, this show shows his true genius. Going in I expected a garbage spoof of star trek and was instead treated to much more. The music and cheesy story/ending is the same but in a different way. It's nostalgic and comfortable well being monumentally groundbreaking in a smarter sense that the squired taste of his past works. MacFarlane brings a realism of relevant problems in our age to 400 years in the future and do not make the mistake I did. Not everything is an attempt at comedy but more a big pill of truth he shoves down your throat about the reality of (I'm trying to avoid the term "human condition" it's too cliche and too used it's more than that) being a human being with real emotions. We all have our awkward moments. It's not meant to be funny but it is because you see yourself reacting the same way, and yet, also assimilating with other cultures. Assimilate to what? To who? Who decides? This show delves into the depths of a world in 2021 so confused it gets offended before it can laugh. And 3 years ahead no less. Do NOT judge this gem until you've seen it.
