Having read the book the TV adaptation was very disappointing. The script was poor, the storyline misleading compared to the book and the denouement totally different. Nice to see it filmed in WA - about time this beautiful state has some recognition - but once again misleading as the book is based in an area of northern NSW.

Countryfile is a good programmeโฆ but the one on The Fens which I know well was suggesting ways of re-wetting the land and producing products for clothing, housebuilding and industryโฆall very well but what about Food! The Fens are the breadbasket of the countryโฆ if we continue to look at nature and not nurturing our best productive land we will end up with a beautiful natural landscape but having to rely on imported food to feed our ever increasing population! It makes no sense.. i am not in favour of intensive farming either but there has to be a balance - rewilding The Fens will be the death of food production in this country and an ever increasing reliance on bringing food in from abroad where farming methods are even more extreme than here. Is that what we really want ?
