The lead character’s attractiveness does not make up for a preposterous story that magnifies the absolute worst of humanity. Ugh.

I don’t understand why this movie doesn’t have better reviews, or why it didn’t bring in more at the box office. It’s inspiring, it’s authentic and unlike any movie I’ve ever seen. Consider those monster waves and think of the courage it must have taken and still takes anyone to put a toe in the water, let alone a teenage boy who risks his life, trying to figure out who he is. The movie depicts the story of Jay Moriarity beautifully and the camera work and music are perfectly attuned. I’ve watched this many times and am always inspired and I look forward to watching it again. Wanna get excited about life? Watch this movie.
