I read this and sat with it for a while and I'm just going to go ahead and weigh in with this: Cal Newport is an academic tech-bro, steeped in academic tech bro culture, and he perceives value only in academic tech bro things. His examples of success are predominantly white men and multi millionaires, and gets a bit of that "Successful Traits of Successful People" vibe, as if emulating the ultra rich will somehow miraculously make you ultra rich as well. He's highly privileged, and seems wholly unaware of that fact. His discredits the value of administrative and menial tasks, many of which have allowed him to pontificate on how only he and his other academic tech bros are cultivating the "Deep Work" of the world.
He does have a couple of good points, most of which are about mindfulness and respecting your own time, but I question if there aren't a lot of other sources to get better, more relate-able and well thought out advice on both of those topics.
