The book is so well written, that it is often hard to " make it " to the next word or line, without having to gather your barrings from the previous.
It is a rare work, in the sense that you are just as emotionally invested as the characters are from the start.
The choice of wording truly is heart-wrenching at times. It may be a fictional story, but somehow the author manages to conceal the fiction and only let you see and feel the heart that pumps on every page.
Where there could be a tale about a boy and his dogs, the author leaves us with a tale about what love is, where love is, and what love does.
Possibly one of the greatest written novels period.
