A tedious movie about magical white people who save a human being. It even includes a "Blind Side"-like narrative by Kinnear, which becomes more sappy as the film progresses. Djimon Hounsou's character "Denver" is relegated to line reading and crying on cue, and the stories of his past (including being a slave on a cotton plantation) makes the fact that this film is based on a true story truly unbelievable. The movie definitely pushes a religious agenda, but not to the point of a Kirk Cameron film. It wasnt a bad film, it just wasnt a good film - a prime example being the weak sub-plot about Kinnear's drunkard father (in a totally lackluster performance by Jon Voight). This movie left me wanting the two-hours of my life back.
