Meh. I am sorely disappointed. I have 4 Irish grandparents so it wasn't the Irish brogue although it might be difficult to understand if you're not accustomed to it. The characters were not filled with the pain and scorn nor drowning in love, music, and poetry I know all Irish people are filled with. And I wonder if they got lost in the attention to the black and white images that I found wanting. The insertion of colorized 60s film clips was distracting. The boy who plays the main character is fantastic for sure. And his dialogue is clever and sweet. But the other characters lacked substance. And the pace was too slow. I wish I hadn't paid an extra $20 to stream this. I think Mr. Branagh was more affected by The Troubles than he knows and he has yet to uncover the damage.
