I just saw this movie in a very old elegant and historic theater. The setting was perfect for this type of film. It was the only movie playing so you didn't hear the loud sound effects of neighboring movies in other theaters which would have taken away from the total experience of what 1940's Austrian
countryside was like. The scenery was beautiful and I felt like I was actually there. The storyline was compelling. This man remained committed to his moral convictions even though his family would suffer because his decision. The movie was able to convey the horrible atrocities of the Navis without having to actually show the war scenes or the torture and killing of the Jews. This was different from the other WWIi movies. The characters were citizens of an Austrian town. I enjoyed the film and it made me think about how many people had to go against their own morality to survive in this time period.
