I have so many grievances with this show. The very first season was stupendous and how could it not be? It was adapted from a popular book with a story to keep you transfixed to the end and you could not hope for a better cast. Big Little Lies had the perfect recipe for the perfect dish. When you help yourself to it the first time around, you love it, you cannot believe something so delectable can even be made. So obviously you cannot wait to load your plate once again. But the second time around, the spice, the taste, the essence everything somehow seems amiss. And the feeling sticks.
The second season of the show has nothing on the first. The performances of Nicole Kidman and Meryl Streep are what got me through the show. Each episode ending I hoped for more, a better conclusion. But I never got it, up until the season end. The denouement seemed too abrupt, I never got any closure and I never experienced the thrill of the first season.
