This is a faithful, visually stunning, retelling of the book. It doesn't hit the normal formula for blockbusters. The story is too complex to fit into a single movie, so the closure at the end of the movie is more like the end of a chapter than the end of a story. If you are OK with it not fitting into the mold that blockbusters are squashed into, however, it is an absolutely glorious story that I believe will reach a crescendo in part 2.
