This movie, while fascinating and at the same time initially offensive, was the first of its kind for me. Without reading any reviews or explanations, I think that Selma Hayek was a personification. I believe she was a figment, so to speak, of Greg Wilton's (played by Owen Wilson) mind and not a tangible character in Greg's life on this earth. He was in love with her, yes. She fascinated and intoxicated him completely, yes. Yet, she embodies only, the never-ending quest for "Dr." Greg Witton to self-medicate (he was under medical care) his way into the impossible "bliss" that we can only imagine exists in a perpetual state.
