A drama that makes you fall in love with 'Brahms' all over again. From the first episode, I was literally hooked and couldn't stop until I finished all the 16 episodes. Everyone played their roles perfectly ("To err is human"), nothing was too out of place. Kim Min Jae and Park Eun Bin, both the leads nailed it by their unapologetically top notch acting.
Life of musicians, their struggles, the hardships both emotional and professional, their ups and downs, being a star for quite a while and then struggling to hold onto their fame and position; life as a whole for those people who devoted their lives to music, the natural talent and the lack of that, quitting or accepting failure, tenacity and newfound freedom in music- everything that is portrayed on-screen is actually something in itself. Loving music and pursuing it is hard but quite freeing.
Everything about the drama- be it the serenity, be it the noise- were portrayed so perfectly that it is bound to touch the strings of your heart and create a beautiful music just for your audience. Neither the silence is deafening nor the conflicts are too unrealistic to believe. And inclusion of music and expression through music are two most soothing aspectc of this drama.
And the awkward chemistry between the male and female protagonists, also the development and growth in their characters and around hem during the whole sixteen episodes never made me disappointed. Rather than rose-tinted lovestories, 'Do you like Brahms?' portrays a lovestory that is like everything we see and feel at every season. And the transition between two seasons is a sight to behold, the changes are not too difficult to spot, yet they are genuinely subtle.
Nothing is too loud or gaudy, yet their actions are bold. A drama must contain drama, it definitely has the essence of drama but dramatic extravagance- not at all. Yet sometimes I felt Jun young could've been a little bit of communicative and Song Ae a little more understanding. However, it's alright because the pair oozes a lot more maturity.
K drama has come a long way and such dramas are proof of that.
