This film was my first introduction to discovering who Elvis Presley was when perhaps around 30 years ago my dad and I decided to watch this movie I think on TCM. I enjoyed Elvis' character so much as he had me laughing throughout! I loved his songs and also enjoyed the storyline. From then on I had the goal to watch Every Single One of his films starting with Love Me Tender. (I have a thing for needing to do things in order.) This movie started my love for Elvis so it has become my personal favorite. I'm grateful I had a fun introduction to Elvis this way, by means of a comedy, and wasn't aware at the time about any of his life's journey and how it sadly came to an end. I now own all 32 of his films, and go back now & then to rewatch one, but this one certainly gets replayed the most!

I love this movie! By far it's one of my personal favorite Jim Carrey films! It is refreshing to see Jim Carrey in a more dramatic role. (I do enjoy his comedies too!) I love the storyline and I've always wanted my own movie theater so that aspect spoke to me as well. I have visited the films locations and have photos of myself and my family in a few of the exact spots where actors stood in the film. (The lighthouse! 💕) I even rode the Skunk Train when visiting Fort Bragg which I can hear in the background during the film. The movie itself is not only great, in my opinion, but also brings back fond personal memories of my travels to that beautiful coastal area.
