PLEASE WATCH A Life on Our Planet, and encourage others to watch also. This film tracks how population increased from 2 billion to 7 billion in one lifetime, about how our wilderness areas have shrunk by half, how fish stocks are rapidly depleting, etc. I share in the blame; I spent my career in the fossil fuel industry, not realizing the damage I was doing. Please watch and be inspired to do your part for our mother earth and for our grandchildren. It doesn't take much:
Eat less meat. (If not for the planet, do it for your health.)
Install solar on your roof. (If not for the planet, do it for your pocketbook. As of Dec 2021, a simple 12-panel no-battery system like the one on our roof is currently available from Tesla for $5000 after rebates here in NY. We are sure the value of our home increased twice that, because we can tell buyers that our house comes with free electricity!)
Donate $5 to The MoonCatcher Project to provide an utterly poor schoolgirl with a washable menstrual kit. Using the data from the Climate Scientists at Project Drawdown, a $5 contribution offsets 20 tons of CO2e, more than most Americans emit in a year! Girls with menstrual kits, and the accompanying family planning education, will stay in school longer and will have fewer children. (If not for the planet, you will be helping to fight poverty, injustice, and cruelty against women.)
Etc. You know what to do.
