Mister Samuel

The show started off captivating me and grabbing my attention to figure out what was going on. I was excited the first 2 episodes and it plummeted from there. The show has no clearly defined Antagonist or Protagonist. It floods characters that do not contribute to the story line or lack of character progression. By episode 8 I am confused on why half of the episodes exist and what the story is. The summary on website says that it's based on the king of dreams being imprisoned and finding his items that were stolen. This all happens in the first few episodes and then is weirdly strung together with literally nothing going on. It has whole episodes devoted to people that die and then are forgotten. I'm guessing that this show is for the book readers. I wanted to like it, doubt I'll finish it sadly. It has good acting, good scenery, good music, and it's inclusive except Asians/Hispanics/Indigenous persons. The lack of a concrete story progression and any character progression just leaves it in a random story state.

Seth Rogen and James Franco used to make some funny entertainment in the past. I used to enjoy all of their content and thought it was on the height of American humor. Since Sausage Party I just have found Seth Rogen to be boring. He has a fun/humorous voice but it also felt super off for Santa. I also think the humor is just the boring staple of low effort. If you're not vulgar/abrasive and crude your humor doesn't seem to land at all. I can't help but feel how one sided it is as I compare it to other cultures for humor. Nothing about it is witty or captivating. It's just something to enjoy if you have a childish humor. I'd love for humor to evolve at least somewhere. Something new and fresh that we could enjoy. Actual creativity instead of jokes being reskinned and resold. Maybe their next production/season will be better.
