Something I realized while watching this movie which both amazes and terrifies me is how well we as humans understand our own species. It’s unsettling how accurate this movie portrays the general masses reaction to everything, from immediately making light of tragedies through memes and jokes, to the lack of empathy and connection to reality. Sure we aren’t all completely detached from reality, but it’s clear to see that we as a society could very well lose our humanity in the future if we have not already.
As grim and disheartening as that all may sound this movie did have some light that shined through the overcasting darkness that may have breezed right over the audiences head. The light for me is being able to see that we’re all pretty similar in the end. We all get lost in the sauce, the melting pot that is earth. We all feel and break. I hope that we never lose sight of our humanity, that we never lose touch of our emotions, because that is the miracle of being human.
If it weren’t obvious enough this film has really struck a cord with me. Maybe it’s because I came to a self realization that I haven’t quite processed yet or maybe it’s because it’s because I look around and realize how the earth is slowly falling apart and yet we change nothing. Because even now, after seeing the film and it’s showcasing of humans and the internet/media’s toxic relationship, I find myself doing that exact thing that was portrayed, it’s ironic really how i am here writing a review directly after watching this movie. I hope this review at least insinuates some questioning and some deep thought in you, the reader. Ignorance is bliss and I am no exception.
