There are a couple things about this that are Monster Hunter. There are monsters, and there are monster hunter weapons. They do not kill the monster until it is dead; they treat it like a puzzle to be solved. Every game entry has introduced an incredibly huge threat to a world that lives on beating up out-of-control monsters, then they explore a narrative that deals with the new threat. But this film has decided that every monster is incredibly huge and no-one can deal with any of them. Half the time is spent fighting a stranded hunter. There's about 5 minutes of actual good cinematography pointed at the MH universe and the rest could be axed to make a 3.5 star short.
