I kept thinking of Homer's Odyssey as I watched this movie. We never get to know any of the characters, including the two soldiers making this journey, too well, but that's not important. It's their experiences we're asked to surrender ourselves to that tell their story. Heroes though they are, the soldiers also are victims of the horrors of war, which are front and center in this picture more so than any other I have seen.
