[Spoilers] This show is great. It gets a lot of hate because its not the sequel everyone wanted from the Last Airbender. Everyone wanted a continuation of Aangs story but instead, we get the new avatar 70 years later with some of the old ATLA characters still alive (which include Katara, Toph, and Zuko, with spirit appearances from Iroh and Aang, and a flashback with Sokka). This show by itself was incredible, the animation style was vastly improved from the Last Airbender and the storytelling is just as good. This show does emphasize much more adult topics than ATLA since Korra is 17 for the first 3 seasons and 20 by season 4. This show emphasizes relationship hardships and extremely stressful situations that are tuned more for grown-up audiences (Korra literally struggles with PTSD and being crippled in a wheelchair for half of season 4). Watching ATLA as a kid and now watching this 13 years later, I can see they were targeting people like me who loved ATLA as a kid and now are more grown up and ready for what Korra has to tackle with all the psychological issues and hardships in life. Yes, this is not what everyone was expecting but this is not a 1-star show because it doesn't continue the main storyline. In many ways, I liked this show better than the original series, you get much more emotionally involved with the main characters' feelings in LOK which contributes to the more adult-focus of the show. The battle scenes in this show are far better than the fights in ATLA, they are so much more engaging and if you want some bending battles than this is the perfect show to watch. Overall, I loved this show and it was nice to get some clarification about what happened after ATLA while getting an incredibly told story with engaging characters. ( I almost want a sequel of Korra more than a sequel of the original series)
