Sheldon Magee

I've been a long time fan the Dune series for quite a few years now. I knew when I saw Part 1 that Denis Villeneuve and the team were taking this in the right direction. Now having seen Part 2, I can say that this depiction of the first Dune novel is cemented as the most impressive book to screen adaptation of all time, in my opinion. The way plot points were portrayed and woven so masterfully together, with changes being made in all the right spots in order to form a cohesive screenplay is nothing short of phenomenal. And what a joy to lay witness to. I saw part 2 in a 4dx theatre, opening night, and it will probably remain the single greatest theater experience of my life. You do not have to have read the novel to appreciate what has been done here. A movie of truly epic proportions, a piece of cinema that reaches a level of immersion and storytelling that will leave you awestruck. If you have any appreciation for movies and well told stories you have to see it. Simple as that.

My favourite show of all time. I wrote it off for years thinking it was too far into nerd territory. Once I came to terms with the fact that I am, in fact, a huge sci-fi nerd, I decided to jump in. What a journey it's been - the writing is fantastic and the character development is extremely well done. Like all noteworthy sci-fi, it holds the mirror up to humanity and makes us question our current trajectory as a species. This show boldly teases us with a glimpse of the potential for the human race to band together and set aside our differences, not for galactic conquest but for exploration and unification. Just ripped through 7 seasons on Netflix and not too sure what can fill the void now. Luckily there is much more Star Trek out there, but I can't imagine the other series matching the perfection of TNG.
