Decent movie, I appreciate the decision to stick closer to the narrative of the original story as opposed to attempting to recreate the disney version. The only stipulation is that it has to be watched in the original language of Italian, otherwise some of the english dub voice acting is awful. its still not quite as dark as the original story but it does encapsulate some elements of the darker aura of the true story of Pinocchio. I think the reason why its being 1 starred to hell and back is because of the pretense being set by the Disney movie. The Disney version is one of the best animated movies ever made, however its essentially a baby-fied version of the original pinocchio. this version even is not as dark as the original pinocchio, as in the original when pinocchio throws the hammer at the cricket towards the beginning of the story the cricket is smashed and dies.
