I almost didn't buy this book after reading the bad reviews. I decided to give it a chance anyway, and I'm really glad I did.
City of Girls is both charming and hilarious. There were parts that made me laugh out loud, there were parts that made me feel sick with worry, and there were other parts where I thought I might shrink into the ground out of second hand embarrassment. This is a book about strong female friendship, and the road to becoming the type of woman who can be a good friend to other women. The women of this story are multifaceted, witty, and funny.
Fair warning: if you're the type of woman who likes to shame other women because they don't live a prudish life, you probably won't like this book.
