Resident evil 3 is a survival horror and action game.it is the continuation Resident Evil and a Sub- Story of Resident Evil 2 .
the game has two main protagonist.Carlos Oliviera & the returning Jill Valentine. the plot was simple Get out of Racoon city but as they fight their way out. they have to face monsters and the Nemesis
-Goods
Graphics of the game is the same as it's predecessor. RE2:Remake
it's a work of art.
- Screen time of Jill and Carlos is almost now equivalent
when you play as Jill you get to enjoy the puzzle solving , mystery and horror. When as Carlos Just plain and straight forward action.
-the shop
here is where you get to decide on your own which items you could unlock. such as infinite rocket launcher , hip pouches and etc. to unlock these items you have to complete a series of task to earn points. ( a nice throw back for the boutique would have been nice)
-not so good.
Gameplay is the same with Resident Evil 2:Remake. of the shoulder perspective gives the game a thrilling and anxious feeling when aiming at enemies however that anxiety starts to fade away the moment you get your hands on a shotgun or the lightning hawk plus the ammo here is a lot.
-Dodge /side step button
Dodge button gives you the ability to dodge enemies.
this is in replacement of the side weapons of RE2 Remake and RE:Remake. i would have preferred the original concept. to dodge you have to press the aim button first then time and press the action button correctly. while the button for the sub-weapon exist or just button mechanics something like
(AIM- L1 + R2-Fire = Shoot Primary weapon , AIM - R1 + L2 - throw subweapon. L1+R2)
-removal of ink ribbon
this has its pros and cons. the cheater in me enjoys the removal of the ink ribbon. where if you die in the game you can just pick up where you left off because of it's auto save. however this removes as well the feeling of anxiety which the game suppose to give.
-BAD
Resident evil 3 remake has failed to capture the essence of the original game. There were important segments that they cut and most of those segments of the story made the original iconic and loved by the fans. the game felt rushed and weren't really able to savor the moments on the game. it was fast phased but it ended fast as well.
they had the perfect opportunity for Jill to visit the police station.
Her to visit the police station makes more sense than Carlos' i mean she's part of the police team wouldn't she be concerned about her teammates / co-police officers? wouldn't it be a good a idea to go to the police station and get more firepower since Nemesis is chasing her? they had the opportunity to do Brad's Death by the hands of Nemesis and still do that Carlos' segment in the remake.
The main antagonist was not that scary anymore. This version made the monster very predictable and almost laughable. they weren't able to give Nemesis this eerie and lethal persona. perhaps what made Nemesis less threatening its his music. the original is superior . what made Nemesis unpredictable in the original is he will just show up randomly and will run towards you. first, you will just hear it's large footsteps.
Lack of puzzles.
Puzzles are one of the core foundation of the resident evil franchise and it surely lacks here.
- replay-ability
if i wasn't into getting the platinum trophy i would have never played the game again. the resistance is not that good of a game. i think the classic mercenaries would be a better.
