The research on the science of reading is certainly not "shoddy" in any way. Over 100,000 scientific studies were reviewed by a panel of the best reading scholars and psychologists in the country. This study was conducted by NIH, the same institution that brought you polio vaccine and many cures for cancer. If you don't "believe" the most highly respected research institution in the Nation, you must also "disbelieve" the cures for cancer. The Science of Reading has proven time and again that we can teach nearly 100% of our kids how to read proficiently. Science is not something to be "believed" or not 'believed". It just is and doesn't rely on anyone's opinions.
