While the general story line is intriguing and parts of the movie where heart felt and had moments of realistic acting, the movie had several issues. First, the writing fell into the trap of trying to be edgy, witty and gay, which is difficult to do. When it missed, it missed. The writing at times seemed older/more mature than the actors. There was an inconsistency in acting talent where some of the actors could deliver the emotional sincerity of a scene, other fell flat which made for awkwardness. Some scene suffered budget constraints like the airport scene where the mother picked up the son. Theme of the movie is poignant and does touch a cord that many older gays know and remember.
