The genre of this drama may be written drama/rom-com. But no, this is not all, the drama has yet a lot to tell and teach. This drama doesn't have a lot of plot twists but this would still keep you indulged the whole time with its incredible story telling, chemistry between the leads, the life stories of every character, the comforting words, the balance between the timeline of both the past and present- everything is actually mind-blowing. The details in the character designing was so on point. Their love was so pure and their relationship was so healthy, which is a rare aspect in the relationships of nowadays. And the character development of Yeon-su and Choi Ung surely need to be appriciated. At the beginning of the story we see Choi Woo-shik's character as an aimless person, but with the continuation of the story he gets much more mature and really thoughtful. When Yeon-su breaks up with Choi Ung I saw her as a selfish and self centered person but later on I felt so bad for the circumstances she was in, the problems she had to face and the fact that she was all alone in this dark journey is so painful. Even though she loved Choi Ung she had to let him go for his betterment and to focus on her life more. Both of the characters so beautifully portrayed by the wonderful leads. This drama sure was calming, comforting and warm. We often think dramas like this would get boring and we'll eventually start to see the same few things after a while in every episode. But this drama had a new phase in every episode. It taught so much about life, the kind of ppl we should be around and keep around, the way we should try to find happiness in whatever situation we are. The characters did such a great job in conveying the emotions that I cried, laughed, felt butterflies in my belly with them. From them being the most chaotic couple to being the most mature and understanding couple, the journey was worth witnessing. This drama brought me peace, comfort and happiness in so many ways. The aesthetic of this drama was clearly visible in every aspect. This drama didnt revolve around just two ppl or only their relationship. It rather had so many perspectives to display. Love, friendship, parenthood, childhood, family problems, sacrifices, understanding- everything was explained in such an excellent way. I loved this drama a lot and am not letting it no anytime soon. Recomended to everyone who want to watch a light yet fascinating drama! <~3

This drama is the first ever kdrama of my life and the experience was so mesmerizing. This is porbably one of the finest high school dramas and it portrayes so many aspects within it too. Also the second lead syndrome hit me hard too :'). Recommended to those who want to watch a light and inspiring drama about teens!! <3

This is a 12 episodes show which means the storyline isn't filled with unecessary scenes to exaggerate the watch time but every episode pulled me in so hard, every character had their life stories to express. Every single moment i think about this drama I feel so mesmerized thinking about how beautifully this series was composed. The effort to transport the audience to the life of 80's, most specifically during the turbulent month of May 1980 in Gwangju, is aptly seen and felt in the set design, props, styling and music. I was continuously entertained with the delirious mix of drama, romance, suspense, comedy, action and history. Although it leaned more on the brutal side of humanity, the lead characters’ love for each other and towards others, made up for the emotionally heavy and gory scenes. I was completely able to feel the characters and their emotions because it was protrayed so seamlessly. Every actor and actress made up for their roles so perfectly. The love story and chemistry between Hwang Hee Tae and Kim Myeong Hee alone is so soothing but it gets very harsh to process the tragic ending though. I loved and got emotional of how hopelessly in love the two leads were. I especially cried seeing Hwang Hee Tae breaking down but still waiting for Kim Myeong Hee to show up in his life again. I wish they will get a happy ending in maybe some other series. Releasing Youth of May really puts the viewers into perspecitve of how real the world is built today. The incorporation of innocent and youthful love with a harsher political and social context is like a trip back to the memories of 1980's. This show is a 100/100 recomendation to anyone who's reading this.

This series was such a masterpiece! Every single episode was sooo phenomenal and i am sure those who get how top notch dramas are supposed to be will surely love this one. My one of the most fav dramas and its totally worth it. The cast was also so well chosen. This drama will surely keep y'all on the edge of your sits and oh the plots like damn. Whole lot of perfection lies in this series! Eagerly waiting for a S2 <3
