This biopic is the definition of the old saying ‘sex, drugs, & rock and roll’ but you would also have to add ‘smoking, drinking, & yelling’ to the phrase as well. This film had me in all sorts of emotions when they were showing all of the aspects of Robbie Williams’s life, but one of the scenes was an almost break point for me as I am yet to experience it myself. Michael Gracey was the perfect person to direct a story about Robbie Williams’s life as he had the incredible vision and just brought the story to the big screen. The technical element that I was most impressed with was the cutaways as they perfectly lined up with the story and you couldn’t get lost and have to try and understand it again. I was also impressed with the score as well, hearing different variations of iconic Robbie hits like Rock DJ, Angels, Feel, and Better Man were brilliantly well recorded. As a person who didn’t know much about Robbie Williams, I know the full story now. If you have time to go to the cinema, definitely go watch Better Man and don’t let the drug-fueled CGI monkey deter you away. I am definitely going to watch this again as it fantastic. 5/5 ⭐️
