I've just finished watching The Outlaws on catch-up. It is well worth watching particularly if you enjoyed programmes like the wrong mans, detectorists etc. It isn't pretentious, it has a reasonably good story arc with different facets of the characters being episodically revealed...and for me I feel the casting is inspired, playing well against/with each other - Only minor quibble is the lack of resolution to a significant lose end; but ho cares - it is welcome escapism...that said, good stuff, well done to those involved I guess the quibble might be resolved with another series...but it felt as if it was a stand alone piece

Brilliant, absolutely first class, if you haven't seen it...you are missing an above and beyond treat Stunning, bewitching, extremely well paced; that is the way to present an audience with 'first' admiration, attraction, awkwardness, doubt, intimacy. Who wouldn't fall in love with these two, root for them...and be smiling with them and exasperated by them in their relationship in equal measure. If everyone had someone like these two have each other, they'd never be alone...it transcends the every day, but not everyone could cope with the intensity or the elasticity of the bond! Best thing I have seen since going into Covid isolation 225 days ago...and probably the best during the last 5 years. Highly recommended - I forgot to mention the soundtrack...big thumbs up!

Another well written episode in Don Haworth's childhood and coming of age autobiography. He made me smile often and laugh out loud in places. Evokes a period when life was simpler, harder and surer - and people seemed to know who they were. Many living today would not recognise the hardships, penury and effort involved in earning a crust nor the camaraderie and togetherness present when playing cinder football. Both Figures from a bygone age and this volume are simply quite splendid - my only regret is that there is not a third volume.
