Some comments have already made the point that this documentary is biased and missing some "inconvenient facts", i.e. the relationship between US and some of the worst dictators in 20th century (eg. Augusto Pinochet of Chile), as well as the dirty role that imperialism and colonism have played in their ascent to power.
As someone who has spent roughly same length of time in US and China as an adult, I just want to point out a very obvious Fact Mistake, or Misinformation, however you want to put it: In 22:43 of episode 2, Bruce is saying that, with flagrantly ignorance, "Every general on The Great March with Mao was dead in a few years. " This is simple NOT true. Check Wikipedia key word "Long March" and you can find that most of the generals (eg. Zhu De, Peng Dehuai, Deng Xiaoping, etc. ) who survived the Long March (1934) made it to quite senior position after the communists took the country in 1949, definitely not "dead in a few years". In fact, among the so called "10 Marshals of China" awarded in 1955, who are the 10 most prominent generals of CCP, 9 of them experienced the Long March and they were just doing fine.
Geez! How did this guy make it to a professor in NYU?
