To begin with, this rating is for a Netflixs Original. This movie may not have made the grade for the big screen but it is an impressive original. I was completely surprised! Usually I find these "Originals" ridiculously empty time wasters but, once in a great while, you stumble across a movie that is a delightfully refreshing piece of work. First let me say, contrary to the previous reviews of this being "... just another sci fi movie".... it is NOT just another sci fi movie! At least not to me anyway.... it doesn't get deep, strange or out of this world stupid. Yes, the actors are not headliners, but as you watch the movie, these kids are not bad at all considering the source! They act very well. I am sure we'll see one or 2 of them in future films no doubt. The emotions were portrayed remarkably well, their lines don't come across as forced or robotic either. Yes, the backdrop is cheesy, but take into consideration the budget! It would have been fantastic if they did film this in a real cave! This isn't a movie about spelunking but it would have looked amazing! Especially the Conquistador scene. I was very surprised they added that but it makes the movie that more remarkable. There is some swearing (very little) but this movie is great for Family night!! Grab the popcorn or snacks, pillows and throw blankets even the dogs will settle down for this movie! No bloody slasher nightmare scenes, so its safe for everyone. One main plot, no side plots so the kids don't become disinterested or confused. This movie has its fun and laughter. You find yourself drawn into the scheme, and before you know it.....the credits are rolling!! BAM.. its over... Bonus..... it makes you think!! What if..... my Grandchildren were asking questions. The International Space Station has now turned Intergalactic!!! I admit, there is one scene *facepalm* that makes you shake your head, but it does pass and you find yourself asking questions again. This is not a complex, mind bending and science geek type movie, so don't go all analytical over it being a sci fi movie!! I said that in the beginning of this review. Having watched this movie now numerous times ( I lost count at 12 ) I felt I needed to write a review from Grandma's view! Some of these reviews are harshly unjust I feel. Like the old saying, ".....don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed..." Yet, this movie is an unexpected diamond in the rough!! Give it a chance. Watch it and see what you think. There are a lot of us that enjoyed this film and we think you will too ♥
