This is the game that first introduced me to RPG's, it was my favorite game back then, is still a solid game to this day and is incredibly nostalgic. It was the best introduction to this style of game that 8 year old me could have asked for, the game might be a bit weird but that is a big part of its charm. The last chapter of the game is so memorable to me that I still reminisce about it over 5 years later. There is even a dinosaur waifu, what more could you ask for. Although this game isn't the most well known out there for the DS, it is definitely a classic worth revisiting and infinitely better then its sequels in terms of story.
