It's depiction of bravery, commitment to family and country stretches across the sexes and brings about a wholesome feeling of unity and strength. The Mulan character embodies confidence and an escape from the norm, not that culture and tradition are bad or boring, but that irrespective of customs, we all are different and the acceptance of who we truly are should be, if not accepted...respected.
