One of the best films I've seen in a very long time. It's a very moving and affecting fim, of the type I'd begun to think they were incapable of making these days. Daisy Edgar-Jones is superb in the lead role, but the supporting cast are also, without exception, brilliant. I was confident I'd enjoy this having seen that The Guardian gave it a 1 star review and called it "terrible southern Gothic Schmaltz". What do they know?

I absolutely loved this, from start to finish. I know I'm in the minority but I wasn't very keen on the film version; I think this is far superior. The cinematography is exquisite, and the performances of all major cast members are superb. The beauty of a series as opposed to a film is that time can be taken with the telling of the story, and this dynamic is capitalised on with aplomb here. The best thing I've watched for quite some time.

Absolutely brilliant film. Gripping from start to finish. Previously I've seen Jason Bateman only in comedies, which he's always good in, but in this he proves himself to be able to handle a serious role excellently, too. Would confidently recommend.

I thought this was brilliant. May Pang came across really well, and her relationship with Julian Lennon was surprisingly touching.

I'd never heard of this film, or the book it's based on, until I found the movie on Prime. This is a nice, understated film, the subject matter right up my street. A couple of surreal scenes weren't to my taste but otherwise I really enjoyed it.

Best film I've seen for ages. The storyline is fascinating and has certain aspects which are redolent of Brideshead Revisited. The acting, across the board, is excellent, but a special mention must go to Rosamund Pike, who was absolutely superb. Definitely worth watching. I'd recommend.

Cliche-ridden drivel. Didn't smile, let alone laugh, a single time. It started badly and went downhill from there. So embarrassing to watch it made my skin crawl.

Slow, tedious, lifeless, dull, boring pap. Jack Nicolson must have been at an extremely low ebb in his career to have taken this role.

Considering this is a comedy (allegedly) I didn't smile, let alone laugh, once throughout its 117 minutes running time. A proliferation of use of the F word was the comedic device which was relied on to have us rolling in the aisles. When will they realise that swearing, per se, isn't funny.
