Very enjoyable addition to the series. A lot darker than the previous game and those going on to play with expectations of a similar vibe to the first one will be disappointed. While the first one explores the themes of love, the second one is mainly a revenge tale and a very dark one at that. But is also a tale of forgiveness as well if you can overcome the anger just like the main protagonists. Graphics are definitely the most realistic and impressive of this gen of gaming. The AI is much more intelligent and their interactions, cries of agony and anguish for their lost friend or dog is very believable and as a player I felt guilt and uncomfortable with my actions. I've never had a game make me feel that way before and I appreciate it for the level of immersion it provided for that to be possible. It is a bold direction for Naughty Dog but one I very much enjoyed. It's not the best story driven game I've ever played but I admire the direction they took. It was bold, they didn't take the easy route and provide a cookie cutter copy of the first game to appease fans, its realistic to the setting of the game. Its a story of survival and consequence and its true to the dark gritty nature of an apocalyptic world.
