Tunnel is a breath of fresh air, at least to me. This was sort of a first time for me,watching a Korean crime drama, and man I enjoyed it ( maybe a little too much). There were no love triangles or squares, no jerky rich boys and people were not excessively bowing to someone's handsomeness, but it was a story that strived to solve a gruesome mystery. The detective or the main character was believable and his voice made a difference ( made him sound like a real old detective from 30 years ago). The supporting actors were amazing and did a really good job. The female character or the daughter was a bit weird but she added personality to the story. She was really fun to watch. The character developments were properly illustrated. I felt for them and cared about them, and wanted them to have closure in their individual circumstances. I personally think that the script was beautifully written because it showed that there was research done. I think the story was based on a true life serial killer in South Korean who was recently imprisoned. The angle that the drama took was refreshing. I mean, who would have thought that a tunnel would be a time traveling medium? I like how the tunnel was in a way it's own character too. There was a scene in the drama, where the main actor was going after the real killer... the weird Doctor by the way. And he travelled back to the past while the killer stayed in the future. That was too cool, because it was in that moment that I came up with theories on how the drama was likely to end. The music score I felt was appropriate for a story that was cleverly narrated. However, the film was a bit boring in some of the last episodes, especially when the actors took way too long to reveal a piece of the puzzle. I also kind of felt that it made it a point to tell the audience about how 30 years passed for the detective and the case. It was a bit too much but the story was interesting. So, I really loved, enjoyed and look forward to watching it again.
