Love Aaron Sorkin. This was so over the top I had a hard time believing it. Based upon the movie, the judge is a senile hack, the courtroom and trial was a mockery of justice, the defendants were actually guilty of starting the riot, conspiracy seems laughable though. The movie make the point that they did in fact I would be interested in what actually happened, rather then the ultra sensationalized version. The judge seemed like a cartoon character of evil, which I find hard to believe is wholly accurate. Other then the gross misconduct portrayed by the judge, the movie has little substantive value. According to the History channel and the movie, the Johnson AG looked into filing charges, this totally discredits the "Political Trial" narrative of the film. At least the charges were legitimate, if not overzealous. I guess the narrative was it was about punishing "anti-war", since it was a riot protesting Democrats put down by Democrats, and then prosecuted under a Republican? That doesn't seem inherently political. Overall the movie was Sorkin's worst by a large margin, and I would place it as decent, but wholly unimpressive.
