Poor adaptation of a really good read. The book was great suspense.. mood... gothic washed down with a thirties twist.. This fim version was far too modern a heroine who reminded me of Brigitte Jones a hero who did weights and the least horsey English cousin imaginable. And as for Mrs Danvers.. She looked like a Disney caricature of the wicked queen out of Snow White
