Watched episode 1, part of 2. Predictable, maudlin narrative, terrible writing, horrible acting. Saving grace is is that creepy Ryan Phillipe was killed off in episode 1, but even that joy doesn't look like it could save this ridiculous debacle. Don't bother.

The problem with creating a series with no particular end in sight is that you end up inventing various narratives to create arbitrary conflict to keep the series going. It generates an artificially moving story line that feels inauthentic and forced. This might have made a decent movie, but the plot line devolved into a silly hodgepodge that rendered all of the main characters very unlikeable, and resulted in a wandering and pointless exercise about the selfish nature of what; "all people"? Despite the promise of the original premise, and a good cast, I could only stomach it through two full seasons. It ended up being about nothing, other than the childish futility of the main characters. Don't waste your time.

The reason I'm not a Sci-Fi aficionado is that they're rarely this good. Although the concept around the non-linear; "unstuck in time" theme explored here isn't exactly novel; the film had me entirely engaged, even the second time through. The direction, the look, the sound, all served to propel this thoughtful and ultimately very human story. Excellent performances from an outstanding cast, led by the incomparable Amy Adams, who is riveting here. Unless you're a fan of the photon torpedo type of sci-fi, this one is a can't miss.
