A remarkable movie on a slim budget, and a truly stirring performance by Wahlberg -Oscar rated- enhanced by moving supporting roles by Mel Gibson, Malcolm McDowell and others. A film which hinges on a series of life changing turns from the protagonist’s childhood; emotional turns right to the last with permission finally, and unexpectedly, granted to allow Stu to complete and fulfil his holy orders.

Iconic, for its scenes, lingering glances, limited dialogue......, but surpassed by 'For a Few Dollars More', the best of the 'Spaghetti Westerns'.
