Smart Asian Friend

The problem is the same one that haunts many modern movies - threadbare characters whose actions make no rational sense and gaping plot holes. CGI is quite good, the premise is cool… all the elements are there… it starts out promising, but as the movie progresses the answers you hope for never come. The promise is never fulfilled and the characters become increasingly cartoonish and incomprehensible. They act like typical horror movie idiots… they take actions which don’t make sense… their character isn’t consistent. It’s impossible to get deeply invested in a movie like this when the actions of the people don’t make sense - both in the small ways and the overall plot arc (what there is of it). It seems to hint at having a twist ending or overall theme, and never delivers.

Sorry. Yet another revamp ruined by wokeism over actual quality.

Probably one of the worst movies ever made. Completely uneven style - monologues, wildly inconsistent (in style) animated sequences reminiscent of a Nickleodean sitcom or TV commercial. Interspersed with music - some of which is decent, but some of which is jarring and does not fit the scenes or mood at all. Most of all, none of it is compelling - none of it is funny, nor is it dramatic. You won't like any of the characters - we know little about them, they're thin as paper, and n fact, they're all off-putting. I can usually find something positive to say - but unfortunately, not in this case. They even managed to take the beautiful setting of the Okanagan and make it look completely washed out and bland. Perhaps I can say that the actors are probably not at fault - there isn't much you can do with a script and direction like this - I think they tried...
