Rama Natarajan

Raayan - Quite captivating, engaging and intriguing with free flowing screenplay that cast Dhanush in a very different role (a fatherly figure for 2 younger brothers and a doting sister) with befitting violence and some nice crisp twists for 3/4th but as usual meandered into unnecessary violence in the name of revenge with no substance towards the end. Wasted SJ Surya and Prakash Raj though both have meaty roles but Dhanush and his brother Selvaraghavan were standout with their roles. ARR has scored couple of good tunes music along with standout cinematography and choreography (by Prabhu Devs). 2.5/5 at best

Keerti steals the show with her looks and effortless acting. She is a joy to watch

Started off well, lost some steam in-between but the end twist were surprising

#jailerreview I would rate the movie by breaking into 3 parts - The first 45 min was very engaging, entertaining, exciting and fairly fast-paced with enough drama. Rajni was at his best in all aspects - 4/5 The rest until 3 min to the end was totally absurd to the core. This is when the stars from other languages make the so-called cameo appearance more to appease the crowd from those regions. The kaavaala song by Tamannah was so horrible along with the sequences that followed - 0/5 The climax though predictable was nevertheless the right ending - 3/5 What stood out was Rajni’s acting, looks and some action, villain Vinayakan, Vasanth Ravi (as Rajni’s son) who has lot of potential and Anirudh’s BGM. Overall 2.75/5

Good subject but felt screenplay was very weak. One of the positive was the subtle romance between Dhanush & Samyuktha who carried herself quite well and looked beautiful. Movie had semblance to super star’s Shivaji but felt both Rajini & Suman performed way better than these two. One time watch if you’re a Dhanush fan
