A short summary of my stance on this show is that it shouldn't be called Winx club or show any affiliation to the 2000s - 2010s classic. It's not Winx club, that's just click bait. If it was there would be a DIVERSE cast. Zero QUEERBAITING, not to mention the overall use of tropes no one wants to see anymore. As a plus sized WOC, you think I'm gonna be ok with Terra being used as a scapegoat so we can forget about this blatant whitewashing? That being said, apart from the nostalgia-bait, awkward dialogue, whitewashing, recycled tropes ( particularly the black best friend one, yikes ). The show has potential. Maybe... At least give Aisha the respect she deserves damn. When can POC win? Obviously we're not going tosee the show affect the watchers in away the original did simply because they screwed all POC over. Growing up in South Africa I saw myslef in these characters. I can't relate to these characters as someone in my early twenties now, which is odd considering they went for a slightly more mature YA route. Which can be done without removing the core values from the original show.
