Not just non canonical, totally nonsensical. You can’t just cannibalize a fictional universe and weave references from it into standalone garbage to make it not garbage. The dialogue is stilted, halting, and awkward. You can’t replace compelling narrative with a heavy driving soundtrack and lots of grey tones.

The best new adult animation in years. Has moments (especially early on) that feel like it could become a predictable comedy, but the writing always takes it somewhere new, unexpected, and hilarious. We need season 2!

Just mediocre. Most of the mechanics are introduced immediately and the majority of the games is spent rehashing the same tropes, using the same moves, and waiting for the same repetitious animations to end. It’s Pokémon, so it doesn’t need to be complex, but this was so simple it was dull.
