there isn't a true psychologist on the face of this earth who has any respect for Phil McGraw. He failed in private practise- it's not hard to see why- and transitioned into trail consulting. The show takes emotionally and psychologically vulnerable people, traumatizes them in front of a studio audience under the guise of 'tough love' and 'treatment'. Shame-therapy tactics.
'Dr.' Phil approaches from an aura of authority and condensation, which cannot be compatible with compassion and treatment. There is more time spent on shilling his wife's skincare line than actually helping.
The show is not reflective of therapy. Recognize that a valid model would be to interview his subjects after treatment, but Phil McGraw prefers to publicize the shaming. This is money-grubbing.
