Incredible visuals. The game play is similar to the previous game though it has been improved slightly. But we loved the first game because of its incredible story, how it made us care deeply about the characters and their development. The story of Joel is wonderful, from a loving father to a hardened survivor who will do anything to survive, to someone who manages to regain his humanity because of Ellie, even if reluctantly at times. This game basically forgets ALL the development of the characters, ignores what they are and instead change and destroy their previous arcs for the sake of the story that they want to tell. We loved the original game for its incredible character development, instead this game focuses on revenge (which isn't necessarily a bad thing) but completely forgets the previous character development. IDK what lead to this decision, but it feels like they purposely destroyed the characters to further a rather peculiar narrative. I was looking forward so much to this game and it felt like an insult to see what it became. I tried to stay positive amid the leaks and the rather bazar focus naughty dog has developed, but this game is utter garbage. Some people have complained about LGBT inclusion or other issues, which to me aren't an issue if they are part of the story but not the sole focus of the story. Rather, my issue with this game is they forgot what made the first one great, and instead tried to make us forget what they had spent so much time developing. I give the story of this game a one, it's an insult to those of us who loved the first one. It's undeniable this game is a technical achievement, since it's gorgeous, but unfortunately I played this game for its story, not because of its looks. Don't waste your money, if you are unsure, watch the story on YouTube first before spending money. Don't make my mistake, it's not worth it.
