Genre: YA, contemporary, teen depression and romance.
A lot of writers don't write about sensitive issues like suicide and bipolar, especially if it's related to teenagers, but Jennifer Niven framed it very well and gave the story an amazing flow. I didn't know about this book until I saw its movie trailer by Netflix. I looked it up on the internet and I'm glad I did. This book does not only show us teenaged bipolar depression but also shows the disadvantages of it, as a lot of parents decide to ignore it, (like Finch's parents) through Theodore Finch's death. Oops, that was a spoiler. And another thing is that I think Netflix has serious issues with Blue-eyed actors. If you have seen (and READ) The kissing booth series, To all the boys series, or All the bright places, you'll probably get the idea. The chemistry between Violet and Finch is amazing, though I couldn't quite get the concept of "awake" and "asleep" like Finch described, but overall this book shows a lot of situations that we usually ignore. This book will make you get really philosophical sometimes. It will also make you laugh, cry and also give you the feeling of losing somebody.
