Baz Luhrmann's attempt to revitalise a classic tale of two ill fated lovers was futile. It's set in a modern fictional Verona but that's really all that's new. There is no other creative twist to it. Everything else has been kept to be as close to the original script as possible. Another thing, the language still remains as old English, which honestly, seems very unfitting and unnatural. For those who've already read the original script play, don't bother watching it. If you really want to watch it, go ahead. There are some good scenes in the movie but they are scarce.
