It’s really rare that a film has things I usually hate in other films like trying to build a cinematic universe yet somehow it makes itself work surprisingly well. I'm not gonna talk about the animation because let's face it, there's no point when everyone has said everything that needs to be said about the animation.
The majority of the humor, characters, music and story works well but it's not flawless. The 2 minor problems I have with it are the villain and Peni Parker. Now Liev Schreiber does a great job as Kingpin, he has a great design and a interesting backstory. But the problem is that his backstory isn't really dived into that much, there are few and far between moments that take emotional advantage of this but they're usually a few seconds long and it doesn't give us enough to make us feel sorry or sympathetic towards him.
Next is Peni Parker, Kimiko Glenn does a decent job but compared to the other Spider-People in the film she's the least interesting. I honestly don't know if it's the material she's given or the character herself doesn't have much to begin with.
But after those 2 gripes, this is a really enjoyable film. Honestly it might be my favorite Spider-Man film since the 2002 Spider-Man. Definitely recommend it.
